OLD HOUSE

This house was in the City of Tamarac, Florida. We purchased it in October of 2001 after wasting money for years renting crappy apartments and dealing with shady landlords. I think the average age of the population was somewhere close to 62. This particular community we lived in was previously a 55 and over community (as is much of this city). This quiet little neighborhood is now booming with many young families. I think the oldest kids in the neighborhood were about 15. There was a constant battle between the old and the young. I can't say I blame the old folks. After all, they thought they were going to retire in a peaceful childless community. Then all hell broke loose when we moved in.

What was funny, is when we first bought the house, everyone thought we were the kids of the new owners. They quickly learned that we were the new owners and they could not tell our parents on us. Notice the skate ramps in front of the house in the picture above? Well, we often crowded the streets with these ramps and skated all day with some of the neighborhood kids (Travis). We even built a mini ramp in the backyard.

Although we loved the house, our neighborhood grew weary of the skateboards. We received a number of letters from the city and the homeowner's association telling us we bothered some people with the noise. But these letters also informed us there was no rule or law forbidding these activities.  So naturally we carried on. This enraged the "beautification committee" and more mail came.  This was the final straw, we decided we were selling the house and moving on to bigger and better things. And so we did. Check out our new awesome house!
